  Celebrating a birthday for the 1st time

  after almost a year of thinking and eh feeling, not sure... i decided to throw a small birthday party for my son.

  this feels so strange, i have never been to a birthday party.

  my husband doesn't feel comfortable with it but he decided to play along lol.

  One of the simplest ways of showing love and appreciation to family and friends was demonized by the cult. When is came to normal human behavior the cult would warp it into something's else. I feel for you Whynot I went through the same thing at first. Just have fun with the day.   firstly, i want to be crystal clear how grateful i am for jwn.

  it's been my place of support for over seventeen years and it's the first online space i direct anyone to if they are taking steps out of the cult.

  i am not bashing jwn - i love this place and appreciate the hard work and expense simon puts in to keep it going.

  If I had any part in what has gone on lately on this site punk and pale I am sorry. We Americans have a hard time thinking there is more to this world than what happens here in the U.S. I don't mine the heated debates once in awhile but it is the derogatory name calling or but downs some like to use. It's hard something's to see the whole forest when you are focus on one tree. My observation is and this includes myself the cult we all escape has effected us more than we realize. I remember the Wt. use to say many years ago "yes we are brain washed our brains are washed clean". That statement is more profound than many of us may care to acknowledge. So from other side of the pond please take care and keep coming back to site I have always enjoyed your comments. Still Totally ADD

  something i found on facebook..... a bit of interesting history reading .... enjoy ...they used to use urine to tan animal skins, so families used to all pee in a pot & then once a day it was taken & sold to the tannery.......if you had to do this to survive you were "piss poor".

  but worse than that were the really poor folk who couldn't even afford to buy a pot......they "didn't have a pot to piss in" & were the lowest of the low.

  the next time you are washing your hands and complain because the water temperature isn't just how you like it, think about how things used to be.

  JWs made me hate school

  yesterday, i had an epiphany.

  i realized that the jw religion made my experience in school awful and i hated school because of this.. yesterday, my kids had an activity where the whole school was out at the park, playing baseball, soccer, other pic-nic games and even swimming pools.

  during the day, i had conversations with the teachers and saw the kids out, playing having fun.

  Well said. It took many years to get over my hate and phoeias of school. The abuse I went through in school because I was a jw child and the jw cult thinking of schooling really messed me up. Thanks to my wife she showed me the error to my thinking. School is suppose to be a happy and productive experience for children but being raised in the jw cult made it for me mostly a horrible experience. The us against them mentality is a major cause for this. I wish is could have been different for me back then. Maybe in the new world it will be. LOL Still Totally ADD

  Untrue Simon on planned Parenthood. They do more work with prenatal care as will as birth control and counseling women on baby care, nutrition and nursing. Abortion for the most part is a small part of the services they give.

  For myself I don't like abortion but I feel women have the right to decide for themselves. Men need to stop controlling what women can do with their bodies. So even though this post is about smearing denocrats this is how most of us feel one way or another on this issue. I just love how this site has become a liberal bashing place. Wake up people we are not right on everything and you righties are not right on everything. But it seems you really don't like us for our views on the world. He has screwed every women he could get his hands on or grab them between the legs, on his third marriage, lieing like there is no tomorrow, loves Putin, Kim jong un and any other dictator in the world, hates our closes allies and degrades them, thinks kkk, skins heads and other hate groups as ok kind of folks, has cheated people out of their money like the victims of Trump unversity, birther, degrader of our American hero's like John McCain and to end it all a friend of the billionaires and a Foe to poor people.

  Helping my husband wake up, need advice.

  my husband is dfed but he is a prime example of someone who was a puppet for the watchtower.

  i was able to wake him a little with the sex abuse scandal.

  he was an elder and is very familiar with those rules.

  Whynot does your husband hold alot of guilt for being DF especially since he was a elder. The indoctrination men go through when becoming a elder deals with alot of guilt. Always being told you need to do it this or that way. Are you secretly sining some way such as looking at porn. They constantly tell you are nothing but a good for nothing slave. All this makes a person self worth non-existent. I knew on person who was a elder commit suicide for looking at porn another who had a nervous breakdown for not being a good enough elder.

  I say this because it will make a person to prove to themselve they are good and spiritually approved before god. Cults do very strange things to people and especially to those who had responsible in the cult and guilt plays a major problem. Take from a person who was a elder for 25 years. I hope everything will work out for both of you. Still Totally ADD
